Student examples from Blue Metropolis Literary Festival workshops

The Blue Metropolis Literary Festival is an annual international event focused on the pleasure of reading and writing. Authors are invited to share their newest works, speak on panels, and give master classes in their genre. I was invited to give two classes in digital literature, one for high-school students and one for adults. Both sessions included discussions, individual and group writing exercises both on and off the computer, and critiques of well-known examples in the field.

In the image above a portion of the high-school participants' real-time short story exercise using Twitter is at top left. Top right, a portion of the adult participants' collaborative writing experiment in Google Docs. The bottom image shows a poem one of the students created by erasing words from an existing text.
