Missing Pixel was asked by TelecomPioneers to revamp a series of games intended to teach principles of telecommunications to schoolchildren. The subjects of the games were not what you might typically consider fun—compressing image files, understanding VoIP, laying fiber optic cables. My role was to re-concept the experience and write new in-game copy. We wrapped all seven games in a new story, with players as part of TechForce, a global network of kids charged with keeping the planet safe from the evil Dr. Insano. Animation, sound design, and the ability to compete with other players made the games more engaging. Clearer instructions and labels, in-game hints, and the ability to pause gameplay made the experience easier to use.
