|| journal eight|| 15. IV. 03 || slow advancement. finally got around to the back interface, drilling holes for the switches and cables. i was faced with the "square peg for a round hole" problem... all but one of my interface elements have square bodies - the switches, the on/off switch.... what a pain to try and create an opening for them. unfortunately, it looks pretty messy. hours of filing didn't get me too far, just couldn't get a hang of the dremel tool, lack of practice. oh well. i need to fit all the switches/cables into their proper holes, check if they all still work, then glue-gun them into place. actually i still haven't figured out why my MIDI data is coming out of the BX-24 in the wrong order, maybe i should take a look at that before i use the glue gun. i also spent quite a bit of time on my Max patch, trying to set up the flow of control, doing a little bit of optimization so that the load on the CPU isn't so great. i'm only going to run one FFT / granular patch at a time. i also want to play with analyzing the rate of the flex sensor data coming in - nothing sophisticatd, but the program should be able to recognize whether i am furiously flapping the wings of the box or slowly moving the flaps.
