i finally built the box - it came out bigger than expected, to be honest. 12" x 12" x 12" is super-large but an advantage of this is that my phyiscal gestures when "playing" the box are larger and easier to see. given the large box, i have to work with it. i have not yet attached the back face of the cube, where the cords and switches and stuff will poke through from the electronics inside. to be honest, i'm pretty nervous about designing the back face. in don't even know how many switches i will want yet! i need some temporary pins or rivets or something to hold it in place, though. and what the heck am i going to use as "sleeves" to hold the flex sensors in place, hmmm?

close up of hinge
close-up of one corner of the box. you can see one of the hinges attaching the right flap to the main body of the box.
container for sound
the container for sound. two side flaps are movable, attached with hinges. you can see a row of four rivets along the back of the box, this is only temporary. i don't want to screw the back face of the cube in until i have determined the layout of the electronics within.
