FutureVision began as a presentation to a Nike marketing team visiting R/GA. Along with my colleagues on the Nike account, I identified exciting examples of how consumers and brands were using digital technologies across distinct categories. We staged live demonstrations, such as the first PlayStation game that allowed users to map their face onto an avatar, and printed the entire presentation on pocket-sized cards (pictured above right). It was such a success that we began using the presentation for new business pitches and in brainstorming sessions with other clients. R/GA soon trademarked the presentation, and within a few years offered it as a trend research service. I was the US-based trend scout, writing bi-weekly blog posts (example pictured above left). R/GA continues to develop FutureVision to this day.
