Game Contents:
8x8 square board, 32 two-color (black/white) tiles, 1 white marble and
1 black marble for keeping score
Game Objective:
The object of the game is to connect four tiles in a row as many times
as possible, using your own tiles
as well as those of your opponent.
Making Moves
Each player gets 16 tiles, and chooses a color (black or white). Black
is first to move, players alternate
turns as they compete to create as many sequences of 4-in-a-row before
their pieces run out.
Each turn consists of two moves:
1. Placing a tile of the player's color in any free space on the board.
2. Pushing the opponent's tile 1 unit horizontally or vertically (never
diagonally!)
· If you make a 4-in-a-row with your opponent's tiles, you flip
all 4 pieces over to your color.
· Placing or pushing a tile to create 5-in-a-row is prohibited
(however it can be done indirectly
when an opponent's pieces are flipped).
· Pushing the 5th tile in a completed 4-in-a-row to create a new
4-in-a-row is prohibited.
· The game is over when all tiles have been placed on the board
(i.e., when each player has had 16 turns).
Scoring
Players get 1 point for each 4-in-a-row they are able to create with their
own color or their opponent's
color. The two marbles are used as markers for keeping score. On either
side of the game board is a
row of 13 holes. Once a player scores, he places his marble (same color
as the tiles he is placing) in
one of the rows, on top of the first hole. Each time he scores, he advances
the marble one space.
The opponent does the same with his marble.
