Our target audience for the launch of Nike Sphere
was teenage boys. We created an appropriately gross multi-level
game inside of the AOL chat window, where the hero battled such
foes as buckets of sweat or pissing camels with the aid of his Nike
gear. This innovative use of the chat medium was also a first for
AOL, as we proposed installing the AOL Expression (or "skin")
directly from a banner.
